As a Fashion Design student dreaming to have my own fashion production company someday, that trip that we had made me learn many things that as a sophomore student like I do not have enough knowledge of. I used to think that fashion designing is all these efforts I am putting into my studies but I was proven wrong with what I have observed when I have seen the reality at The Evans Group. All along I have thought that if one is a very good fashion designer, it is all what it takes and it is all what one aspiring designer needs. Again, I was wrong. à à à à à à à à à à à The Evans Group (the Company for brevity) offers services to clients such as design developments, first patterns, samples, duplicates, production patterns, gerber pdm tach packs, yields, grading, marking, hand finishing, small volume production (20-300 pcs/style), trimming, fabric sourcing and wolf dress form rentals.. The company was named newsmakers of 2007 and has a new production facility in Los Angeles and a development studio in San Francisco. à à à à à à à à à à à With the many things that we have seen and learned from the Company, I am writing here the top ten that I strongly believe need to be shared and worthy to be taken into consideration by designer students like me. à à à à à à à à à à à First, I have learned that a very good system and organization what makes such a business grow and stay in existence. When I have seen that the company takes care of the specific requests of each designer customer it made me realize that a very meticulous attention should be given to each request. A poorly followed instruction may mean a lost client and a lost income. In the factory, I learned that each company has different policies for their orders. Even it is as unnoticeable as the label and the hemline structure, they are as equally important. à à à à à à à à à à à Second, I used to think that patterns are such an old fashion style when experts are doing the cutting. But NO! Patterns are still very important and they serve a big role in the success of each cut fabric and design. à à à à à à à à à à à Third, Budgeting is very applicable and useful in the factory. A knowledge of fashion designing alone would not make one designer successful outright. A knowledge of little economics, little of budgeting and much of common sense are the very basic ingredients that go with the fashion designing talent. At The Evans Group, if they have a plaid fabric, the staffs match the quality with the budget allowance required. Greater budget allowed means better quality. à à à à à à à à à à à Fourth, technology nowadays are indeed inevitable. I have seen that Tukatech, the companyââ¬â¢s computer arm plays a big role in the success of the business. It is a computerized designing arm capable of making the designs. à à à à à à à à à à à Fifth, like any other discipline, the world of fashion have their own set of ââ¬Å"jargonsâ⬠. In the factory, they used the terms such as unit to identify a piece of work. Moreover, I have seen and learned what a fusing machine is. à à à à à à à à à à à Sixth, a knitted fabric shrinks. Tthus, it needs block fusing. Unlike ordinary fabrics that simply needs piece fusing. à à à à à à à à à à à Seventh, I and my group have observed about cross cutting. Cutters cover the roll of fabric with nylon then they place rolled fabric in a machine where aà ruler is attached and they can cut that in sizes like one inch or in any size they want. Eighth, .management is also important in fashion industry. In The Evans Group, they have various departments like cutting, sewing, printing among others. Only a properly managed company with good department leaders, managers or supervisors can stay long in the business. Ninth, marking the fabrics for cutting is very important. A marker must not go wrong with this job. He or she must consider the sizes that have been given by designer client: for instance, 2S, 2M, 2L,2XL when that client have specified an amount of fabric to use. Arithmetic and proper geometric talents are needed here. Lastly, I appreciate the visit to The Evans Group. It made me learn so much. Indeed, learning is not limited inside the four corners of a classroom. The best way to learn is to experience!

History has been written from the viewpoint of victors in every history textbook up to this point. In A Peoples History of the United States, Howard Zinn presents a report of history told from the perspective of the oppressed American people. It begins with the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1492 and concludes with the result of the Gore and Bush 2000 presidential election. Zinn gives the unfiltered truth from educators in today's school systems. By establishing a perspective of everyday common people, as opposed to the familiar victors students have been taught in school systems, Zinn creates a recap of history that informs his readers on well known historical subjects. It describes scenarios overlooked by mainstream class books, and speaks for the voiceless. This engaging process of teaching is mind-altering, demonstrating how the roles of wealth, race, and gender play a role in American history. Why did Howard Zinn choose to base his novel on the oppressed people throughout history as opposed to the ââ¬Å"heroesâ⬠? Zinn makes an important distinction from the start about his values towards the perspective and experiences of the oppressed over the view of the oppressor. Zinn prefered to recap the history of the US that was formerly swept under the rug. Zinn writes to show the outlook that is not presented in majority of history books, but he considered that his point of view is not the only one worth perceiving. He resolves that, ââ¬Å"I don't want to invent victories for people's movements...I believe, emphasize new possibilities by disclosing those hidden episodes of the past when, even if in brief flashes, people showed their ability to resist, to join together, occasionally to winâ⬠(Zinn 11). Zinn intends to display the angle o... ...mansions; persons "of Quality" traveled in coaches or sedan chairs, had their portraits painted, wore periwigs, and filled themselves with rich food and Madeira..."In Newport, Rhode Island, Bridenbaugh found, as in Boston, that "the town meetings, while ostensibly democratic, were in reality controlled year after year by the same group of merchant aristocrats, who secured most of the important offices..."(Zinn 48). White Americans would describe this time period in a positive approach, due to the evidence that they have significance in the government. The victors have definite rights, wealth, and all the work drops on the backs of their slaves. In this time period, a person's social class and race determines what they experience throughout their lifetime. These actions arrange an altogether different story and outlook than those who endured a different lifestyle.

Ohmââ¬â¢s law Essay
Predictions 1. The longer the wire, the more it will resist the flow of electrons 2. The wider the wire the less resistance it shall have. 3. Copper will be the wire which has the less resistance. 4. The different types of wire will have different levels of resistance. Accuracy I am intending to also get a reading for the length ââ¬Å"zeroâ⬠also using the crocodile clips and keeping the circuit identical. This shall be my ââ¬Å"controlâ⬠. I suspect that there will be resistance both in the circuit wires and in the multimeters. This will mean that the values obtained for resistance of the wire shall be slightly too high. By subtracting the resistance value of the circuit wire from the resistance calculations I will get a more accurate set of results. Also as I intend to draw a best fit line for my results, if all the points are slightly too high the gradient will be dramatically altered. The way in which the readings are being taken is designed so that the readings are random but in an orderly way so that I can spot any mistakes. Method Method used The method used was identical to that explained under the planning section, above. The results (i. e. readings on the multimeters), were taken down and put into tables. In my case I have obtained a scatter graph with a very strong positive correlation. In graph 1 It can be seen that there are four straight lines passing through the origin. These straight lines are the values for Nickel Chromium at different gauges. The gauge values are as follows: Gauge Diameter (mm)à graph two, it can seen that this is not a relationship of direct proportionality as the correlation doesnââ¬â¢t ââ¬Å"pointâ⬠towards the origin. Also from graph one, it can be seen that the resistance increases as the length does. All these lines are straight and they all pass through the origin, so I think it is appropriate to conclude that Resistance is directly proportional to the length of the wire. Finally it can be seen from graph three that the resistance in different types of wire varies according to the type. Keeping the gauge constant this was tested and the results were as follows: Nickel Chromium is the most resistant, Manganane is the second most resistance, Constantan is third, And the least resistant is copper. All the evidence her proves that my results agree with my hypothesis. (c. f. section P). Evaluation Reliability The reliability of these results is quite good. This is because the procedure is relatively straight forward, and the numbers are not difficult to record. I think the results are certainly reliable enough to support both of my conclusions firmly. Anomalus results. There are a few anomalus results throughout the experiment. The resistance values in the table are not always increasing, and this is not always occurring at a steady rate. Good example of which are the readings for 40 and 50 cm on the copper wire. I think that this is just a mistake in taking down the results or possibly we didnââ¬â¢t wait foe the voltmeter to stabilize. Experimental errors These could include many things, the most likely of which are a short circuit, The wire may have heated up causing less resistance, and the readings on the multimeters could have been inaccurate. Further work This could include finding a more varied set of results, testing more types of wires. It could also include taking more readings to get better averages. I would suggest using all the rest of the equipment in the same way. Also one could try to investigate temperature changes by using insulated wires and a tray of cold/warm or hot water. The Legal Drinking Age 18 or 21 - 1770 Words
When someone turns 18 they acquire certain rights. They can vote for legislation, enroll in the military and buy a house. Before 1984, they were also allowed to buy alcohol. This all changed when President Reagan signed the National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984. This act stated that the drinking age would change to 21 and it has remained that way since. There has been controversy on the effectiveness of the law because most people drink before they turn 21. Which side is right? Was Reagan correct for implementing the drinking age as 21 or are the multiple college president and chancellors of Amethyst Initiative that believe it should be 18? Between the 1920ââ¬â¢s and 1933 the use and purchase of alcohol was illegal.
